Relationship Violence Awareness Month
October is Relationship Violence Awareness Month
Every October, Sexual Violence Response recognizes issues of violence in intimate relationships and the impact they have on all of us. Purple is the symbolic color for the month, and we light Alfred Lerner Hall in purple for the entire month to show our support for the prevention of relationship violence. We also do this to connect with communities across the country committed to this effort.
Relationship violence has no place in the Columbia community.
Wear Purple Day
We invite members of the Columbia community to join us for Wear Purple Day to highlight the issue of relationship violence and to show support to survivors among us. Please check back in the weeks leading up to October 2018 for information on how and when to participate.
We sponsor a number of events on issues related to sexual and intimate partner violence. Please join us at events planned to mark Relationship Violence Awareness.
