Workshop Descriptions

This is a community building event for students registered with the Disability Services Office. We are hosting this in our testing center, so students have an opportunity to tour this space in a low-stakes environment.

At this event, you can meet and mingle with other students registered with our office. Learning Specialists will have resources you can use you plan out your semester. Staff will also be there to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming semester and assist in setting up your Disability Services accommodations. Lastly, we will have pizza to enjoy!

This workshop will allow you to reflect on your study spaces and the role of environment for your focus and quality of work. We will be discussing different places on campus to work and will be creating physical materials to enhance your home study space to best support your success.

This is a fun, informative workshop where you will have tangible items to use and study space goals by the end of the session.

This is a hands-on workshop designed to help you set goals for the last month of the semester, determine the most effective study techniques for your finals and create a study plan for final exams and assignments.

Attendees will have time allotted during the workshop to use workshop resources to plan their final exams and assignments and get organized for studying.

This 3-part workshop is designed to allow you to learn about and, most importantly, implement active learning strategies for your courses.

We will be following the structure of modeling and providing examples, allowing for much of the session to be hands-on practice with the new strategy using your current course material, and then engaging in reflection at the end.

The three active learning strategies are: Concept Mapping, Sorting & Organizing your Learning, and Embodied Learning.

This 10-session workshop is a supportive space for students to build community and maintain consistency with their time management, organization and stress-management skills throughout the semester.

We will have a focus on discussion, collaboration, and implementing strategies that work best for students with disabilities. This consistent space to work on executive function skills in a safe and positive community will support students’ academic success.

Students who were a part of the EF Community Group last semester are welcome to join again. We will have new routines and structures to try as a group. New students are of course, welcome and encouraged to join.
