Dr. Hillary Scudder joined Columbia Health in 2019. She received her Psy.D. from William James College and her B.A. from Wake Forest University. Hillary was also honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 2019. Prior to joining Columbia Health, Hillary worked as a Staff Psychologist at Yeshiva University’s Counseling Center. In addition, Hillary completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Interprofessional Training, and OEF/OIF/OND Veterans at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System in Manhattan. She also completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Healthcare System with rotations in Assessment and Polytrauma, Health Psychology, PTSD, and Veterans’ Readjustment Issues. Further, Hillary has completed clinical externships working with forensic populations, crisis intervention, substance use disorders, and community mental health.
Working from a primarily cognitive behavioral orientation, Hillary approaches treatment in an open, nonjudgmental way and aims to integrate various techniques that best fit the needs of the client. Hillary’s clinical work and interests have focused on issues related to military service, trauma, health psychology (e.g. chronic pain, insomnia, smoking cessation, tinnitus), and religion.
