Disability ServicesLearning Specialist
Disability Services offers a variety of services that facilitate the development of compensatory strategies and academic skills for students with disabilities. These services are offered in small groups and individually.
A full-time learning specialist is available to meet with students on an individual basis. Each student’s specific needs are considered in determining the appropriate areas to be addressed. The learning specialist works with students to develop strategies that will help them compensate for difficulties in several areas, including:
- Reading fluency and comprehension
- Writing skills
- Organizational skills
- Time management
- Procrastination
- Test preparation
- Test anxiety
Students work with the learning specialist to establish priorities and determine a personalized agenda for their time together.
Throughout the semester, Disability Services provides several workshops in the areas of study skills, note-taking, test preparation and time management for students with disabilities. For more information about group workshops, please check out the Workshop section.
Students may work with the learning specialist as needed or on a regular basis for several weeks at a time. If you are currently registered with Disability Services and are interested in speaking with our learning specialist, please contact Disability Services to schedule an appointment for a consultation.
