Counseling and Psychological ServicesIndividual Counseling
Short-term individual counseling is available by appointment for students enrolled in Columbia Health.
Students requesting an appointment for one-on-one counseling for the first time will have a phone interview with a Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) clinician who will discuss the student’s needs and set up the initial visit.
Students with acute psychiatric emergencies will be seen without an appointment whenever CPS is open.
Students are encouraged to select a clinician, and may also request to transfer to a different clinician at any time. Counseling and Psychological Services serves the entire Columbia student community on the Morningside campus. In order to meet all student needs each year, our clinicians will work with each student to determine the appropriate treatment plan and duration of service.
Students can also be seen in any of the drop-in counseling offices at residence hall or departmental offices on the Morningside campus. Appointments are not required for drop-in counseling offices.
Columbia students in a relationship with another student enrolled in Columbia Health may also schedule an appointment for couples counseling. Check our Couples Counseling section for more information and how to make an appointment.
