Counseling and Psychological Services
Short-term Individual/Couples Counseling

Short-term individual and couples counseling is available by appointment for students enrolled in the Columbia Health Program. Students requesting an appointment for individual counseling for the first time will have a phone interview with a Counseling and Psychological Services clinician who will discuss the student’s needs and set up the initial visit.

Students requesting an appointment for couples counseling will be given an initial assessment with one of our counselors who specializes in couples counseling. Students with acute psychiatric emergencies will be seen without an appointment whenever Counseling and Psychological Services is open. Students are encouraged to select a clinician, and may also request to transfer to a different clinician at any time. Counseling and Psychological Services serves the entire Columbia student community on the Morningside campus. In order to meet all student needs each year, our clinicians will work with each student to determine the appropriate treatment plan and duration of service.

Students can be seen on a walk-in basis in any of the residence hall offices located in 100 Carman Hall, 210 East Campus, 112A Hartley Hall, and 600 W. 113th St. Room 2BB.
