Disability Services Workshops

Disability Services Fall Semester 2017 Workshops


All workshops will be held at the Disabilities Services office – Wien Hall, Suite 108A


Each workshop will be facilitated by our Learning Specialist, Sandra Gomez, and cover a range of topics related to exam preparation, time management, and successful study strategies.  Feel free to come to all or just the ones that apply to you! Space is limited, so you must RSVP by 12pm the day before each workshop.


Starting the Semester off Right! 

Thursday, September 28th   5pm-6pm

Friday, October 6th 11am-12pm


This interactive workshop is designed to help you to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of your current study methods and time-management techniques, set goals for the semester, and create an action plan for success.


Tackling Papers and Long-Term Assignments

Wednesday, October 18th   12pm – 1pm

Monday, November 20th    12pm- 1pm

The focus of this workshop will be using your time wisely on independent written work, tips for getting started, and managing writer’s block. You will also be introduced to some helpful tools for breaking down long-term assignments.

Getting a Jump Start on Studying for Finals

Tuesday, November 28th  4pm – 5pm


Friday, December 1st       11am-12pm

Finals are just around the corner!  Let our Learning Specialist help you get started on studying. Topics will include: cumulative review, creating a study schedule, staying better focused on studying, and study strategies and tools.


The Home Stretch: Fine Tuning Your Study Methods 

Thursday, December 7th  5pm – 6pm


Tuesday, December 12th 12pm-1pm

This workshop will focus primarily on short-term test prep. Topics will include: prioritizing your study time, using effective test-taking strategies, preventing test anxiety, and what to do if you need to cram.
