Dr. Aoife Villafranca-West joined Columbia Health in 2009. Prior to joining Columbia Health, Aoife completed a clinical internship at St. Luke's Hospital, clinical research assistantships at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and at the Social Psychiatry Unit of Columbia University Department of Epidemiology, and a fellowship at Hostos Community College. Aoife was an undergraduate at Columbia University and received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Graduate Center at the City University of New York.

Aoife's professional interests include the effects of individual and collective trauma; the impact of social dynamics on behavior and identity formation; and understanding transitions in language and cultural, class, and gender affiliations through the processes of identity formation. She works with individuals and couples and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
