Raia Gortcheva

Raia Gortcheva joined Columbia Health in 2011. Prior to joining Columbia Health Raia worked as a psychologist at the Georgetown University Law Center. She earned her B.A. in psychology and German studies at Connecticut College and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Counseling and Psychiatric Services.

Raia’s professional interests include improving mental health services for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender students, acculturation issues, working with international students, and working with grief and loss. She is committed to helping students with issues around regulating their emotions, as well as with navigating past and present relationship problems, trauma, and identity issues.
