Immunization Requirements
Immunization Requirements for New Students
There are two immunization requirements that students taking six or more credits must meet before registering for classes. It is recommended that students submit their documentation at least 30 days prior to their scheduled registration date. For this reason, all incoming students are placed on hold prior to their first registration.
New York State public health law requires that all students document immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella, as well as document that they either have received the Meningitis vaccine or have declined to receive it.
1. Documentation of Immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
2. Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Decision
Columbia Health also recommends that students receive all routine childhood vaccinations, an updated tetanus booster, vaccination for hepatitis B (3-dose series), and varicella (chicken pox). All vaccines are available at Medical Services. See the following section for a complete listing of vaccines and fee schedule.
Charges are determined by the actual cost of the vaccine. Vaccine expenses are generally not covered by medical insurance benefits. Information about coverage of immunizations can be obtained by calling the insurance carrier’s customer service representatives.
